Jomalig Island 2024

It's been a while since my last blog post! Today, I'm excited to share my recent adventure on Jomalig Island in Quezon Province. For this trip, we decided to join an organized tour with Kapitana. Having one of her coordinators as my friend's boyfriend gave me confidence that we wouldn't encounter any scams along the way.

The organized trip costs us 4500 pesos per person which includes the below:

Getting to the port was a bit of a trip. It took us around 4 hours because we had to stop in Alabang to pick up some things we needed. Usually, it only takes 3 hours since we're from Cainta, Rizal.

When we got to the port, our coordinator got us tickets for the first trip to Jomalig Island. Since it was all planned ahead, everything went smoothly. But if you're doing it on your own, make sure your resort reserves your spots early to avoid any trouble.

The boat was a bit crowded, and we ended up on the upper deck. We managed to take a long nap during the 5-hour journey. Luckily, it wasn't too hot because there was a rain shower while we were traveling, which was actually quite nice.

When you get to Jomalig port, you'll need to pay 80 pesos each way for a ride to your resort. We stayed at Banana Beach Resort, which was about a 30-minute ride from the port.

Day 1 we just stayed in the resort and rest after traveling for almost 10 hrs. A few minutes from the resort is a sand bar which usually appears around 10:00 am.

Day 2 - Sand Bar near the resort, less than 10 mins walk

While we were exploring the sandbar near the shore, we encountered a local offering jetski and kayak rentals. We didn't inquire about the cost of the jetski rental, but the kayak rental was priced at 300 pesos for 1 hour. If you're interested in trying this out, you can find the manong near the shore, just a few minutes' walk from the sandbar.

THE ISLAND TOUR

The typical island tour in Jomalig costs 800 pesos per person using a habal-habal excluding entrace fees. However, being budget-conscious, we explored the area and discovered a more affordable option! We came across a mini-truck similar to the one below but with a cover. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to snap a photo of it, so here's a reference image from Google to give you an idea of what it looks like.

We decided to visit only two destinations on our second day since it was already past lunchtime. We headed to Golden Sand and Little Batanes. The entrance fee for Golden Sand was 50 pesos, and for Little Batanes, it was 100 pesos, making a total of 150 pesos per person for both destinations. However, the tour itself cost 350 pesos per person, excluding entrance fees, bringing the total to 500 pesos.

While the 800 pesos habal-habal tour seems almost the same price, it doesn't cover entrance fees. So, you might end up spending around 1000 pesos or more if you opt for the habal-habal tour. Alternatively, kuya with a truck who provided our tours offer it for 750 pesos each, providing a more comfortable and less hot journey. If you're interested, I'll include his contact information below.

Little Batanes

After the tour that's around 5pm we went to the cafe in the town to get some refreshments.

When we returned to the resort, we spent more time swimming to make the most of our last day before leaving early the next morning. We decided to rent Kuya's truck again to make it easier to transport our belongings, as it has more space compared to the habal or the tuktuk (tricycle).

It was so much fun! The best part for me was definitely Little Batanes. Picture-perfect hills and cliffs by the sea made it feel like we were in the real Batanes. And the sandbar near our resort was like something out of a dream – clear blue water and soft sand.

Every moment on Jomalig Island was special. Whether we were exploring hidden spots or just relaxing on the beach, it was all amazing.

As the sun set, painting the sky with beautiful colors, we felt grateful for the memories we made. Having traveled to many destinations across the Philippines, I can confidently say that Jomalig Island is a must-visit. So, seize the opportunity to explore its beauty and create unforgettable memories while you still can.

Mt. Sawi + Dingalan, Aurora. (Batanes of the east)

I and my friends often travel on a budget-friendly trip. We like hiking and island hopping, so I searched for a place that we could do both. And buwala!!! I found Mt. Sawi and White Beach in Dingalan, Aurora. (August 2017) So I started my research about the place and write our itinerary along with the budget. Reg. Fee Mt. Sawi = 30/head Guide fee day hike P500per guide, dalawa kinuha nmin 1000/14 = 71.4 Eco fee in Dingalan = 50/head Gude fee in Dingalan Aurora (trek from feeder port to white beach, lighthouse, view deck, lamao cave) = 700(discounted supposed to be 200 per spot. Tipid Cebu Tour 2k18

Cebu is one of the most popular places to visit in the Philippines nowadays, there are a lot of tourist spots that you can pay a visit there especially in South Cebu like Oslob, Kawasan Falls, Tumalog Falls, Osmeña Peak and Moalboal which are the places we visited in our Cebu tour, but aside from this there are a lot of places that you can include in your tour when you have a lot of time, coz in our case we only had 2 days to tour South Cebu. If you also have like a week vacation you can even visit North Cebu particularly Bantayan Island, San Remigio which has the longest shoreline in Cebu, Malapascua "The Little Boracay" of Cebu and a lot more. But I will only write about our South Cebu tour, for now, soon we will visit North Cebu and write about it as well. We booked our plane ticket 2 months before our tour, luckily PAL has a seat sale that time, so we grab the chance and book our flight for February 23 to 26, 2018, which costs P2,700+ per head Round trip!!!! sup
